Rangers Daily Farm Roundup: 8/14/18

Today’s highlight comes yet again from the pitching side as Joe Palumbo continues to trend in the right direction after surgery. Meanwhile, in Double-A, the RoughRiders couldn’t turn things around after the off day. In Triple-A, a veteran pitcher attempting a comeback left after recording just one out.

Triple-A

Nashville 8, Round Rock Express 4

It was a hot start for both teams as we saw a combined six runs in the first inning, three from each squad. Christian Lopes had a two run homer in that frame, but Round Rock quickly came back down to earth after starter Chris Tillman left the game after throwing just 11 pitches and allowing two runs. It sounds like he left with a groin injury. After the explosive first, this one was all Nashville.

Christian Lopes: 1/4, HR, 2 RBI
Andy Ibanez: 2/4, 2B, RBI
Tony Sanchez: 1/4, 2B, RBI
Austin Bibens-Dirkx: 4.1 IP, 4 ER, 4 K, 1 BB

Double-A

Arkansas 3, Frisco RoughRiders 0

Frisco has now lost six of their last seven. The Riders have been sitting pretty for a playoff spot, but this last week will make the picture in the south division a whole lot more interesting.

Nomar Mazara: 1/4
Wes Benjamin: 5 IP, 3 ER, 0 K, 2 BB

High-A

Down East Wood Ducks 8, Carolina Mudcats 0

Lefty Joe Palumbo continues to impress since his return from Tommy John surgery. The former 30th round pick is sporting a 2.67 ERA through 27 innings in High-A. He has now pitched 10.1 straight scoreless innings.

Andretty Cordero: 2/4, 3B, 2 RBI
Anderson Tejeda: 2/5, 2B
Brendon Davis: 1/3, HR
Joe Palumbo: 5.1 IP, 0 ER, 9 K, 3 BB

Single-A

Hickory Crawdads have the night off on Tuesday and will start a three game series on the road in Asheville on Wednesday night.
