Round Rock and Nashville had some twitter beef last night, but the Express got the last laugh this evening. One piece of the return for Cole Hamels had a great outing for Down East. Frisco made an attempt at an improbable comeback.
Round Rock Express 3, Nashville 2
The Express used five pitchers en route to tonight’s win and a series split. The Tennessee road trip continues tomorrow in Memphis.
Arkansas 7, Frisco RoughRiders 5
It was a 2-2 tie until the Travelers blew this one open with a five run top of the eighth. The Riders made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth when they loaded the bases with two outs and Michael De Leon singled home two to make it a two run game. Ultimately, the Riders just didn’t have enough in the tank.
Carolina 2, Down East Wood Ducks 1
After outscoring Carolina 14-2 in the first two games of the series, the bats went quiet tonight. All three of this game’s runs were scored in the eighth. For Rangers fans that are still a little salty about the whole Cole Hamels situation, Rollie Lacy was the highlight of that deal so I hope his stat line cheers you up.
Hickory Crawdads 3, Asheville 0
The Dads win the series with this one tonight and will go for the sweep tomorrow. A.J Alexy, Alex Eubanks, and Joe Barlow combined to two hit the Tourists in this one. Bubba Thompson homered for the second time in three games.
