The headline coming into play on Thursday? Well, the Joe Palumbo show of course! The lefty has bounced back nicely from TJ surgery and is now on everyone’s radars. Chances are, if you read a Rangers prospect article today, it was about Palumbo’s promotion to Double-A Frisco.
Round Rock Express 7, Nashville 4
Let’s go streaking! Make it four straight wins for Round Rock and six of their last seven after an awful start to August. Berrys Baseball favorite, Willie Calhoun went yard in this one.

Frisco RoughRiders 4, San Antonio 3
It was the Joe Palumbo show as the lefty made his Double-A debut, and it was a pretty good show. He was virtually unhittable with his outstanding curveball on point. He pounded the inside corner with his fastball well and his changeup was a good out pitch against lefties. San Antonio threatened late, but right fielder Eliezer Alvarez gunned out a potential game tying run at the plate to close out the contest.
Down East Wood Ducks 5, Wilmington 0 (Game One, Completion of Tuesdays’ Suspended Game)
We picked this one up in the top of the fourth with Down East leading 4-0. The Wood Ducks used four pitchers over the two days, each of them allowed one hit a piece.
Down East Wood Ducks 3, Wilmington 2 (Game Two)
A two game sweep on the day and a nice start from Rollie Lacy who continues to impress since coming over from the Cubs organization.
The Hickory Crawdads had the day off on Wednesday and will start a four game home series vs Lakewood on Thursday.
