Rangers Daily Farm Roundup: 8/23/18

With the big club taking the day off, all eyes were on the farm. Here is how things shook out in the Rangers system on Thursday.

Triple-A

Nashville 4, Round Rock 2

Well, the streak had to come to an end eventually. Anyway, Yohander Mendez got the start in this one and posted an… interesting stat line. He allowed five hits in his five innings, three of which were homers, but he also managed to strikeout eight and walk none. Perplexing to say the least.

Carlos Perez: 2/4, HR, RBI
Christian Lopes: 1/4, HR
Tommy Joseph: 2/4, 2B
Yohander Mendez: 5 IP, 4 ER, 8 K, 0 BB

Double-A

Frisco RoughRiders 4, San Antonio 3

The Riders scored two in the top of the first and held that lead all the way until the bottom of the ninth when San Antonio tied it up on a 2 RBI double from Peter Van Gansen. From there, it was a wild one in extra innings, especially the 10th. Jonathan Hernandez had an outstanding start.

Jose Cardona: 2/4, 2B
Josh Morgan: 1/5, 2B,
Jonathan Hernandez: 6 IP, 0 ER, 8 K, 0 BB

High-A

The Down East Wood Ducks had the day off today and will begin a three game home series with Myrtle Beach on Friday.

Single-A

Lakewood 4, Hickory Crawdads 1

The bats were silent for Hickory as their lone hit came off of a solo homer from Sam Huff. Gustavo Armas threw eight one hit, one run innings for Lakewood. A.J. Alexy had a pretty good start himself.

Sam Huff: 1/3, HR
A.J. Alexy: 7 IP, 2 ER, 10 K, 0 BB
