With the big club taking the day off, all eyes were on the farm. Here is how things shook out in the Rangers system on Monday.
Round Rock Express 5, New Orleans 1
Round Rock has been playing much better as of late after a nightmare of a start to August. With tonight’s win they come back from down two games to none to split the series with the New Orleans. All five Express runs were scored in the first two innings, including a three run homer from Andy Ibanez.
Frisco RoughRiders 7, Midland 1
Four Riders had multi-hit games tonight as Frisco inches closer to locking down a playoff spot.
Carolina 3, Down East Wood Ducks 2
The Wood Ducks drop the series opener as the three errors and seven walks would seem to have been their demise in game one. Leody Taveras, Brendon Davis, and Eric Jenkins each had multi hit games. The majority of those hits weren’t timely however as Down East went 2/16 with runners in scoring position.
Leody Taveras: 2/5, RBI
Brendon Davis: 2/4, 2B
Eric Jenkins: 2/4, SB
Sal Mendez: 4.1 IP, 2 ER, 2 K, 4 BB
Hickory Crawdads 10, Delmarva 1
The Crawdads did the majority of the damage in this game in just two innings. A five run fifth and four run sixth highlighted the blowout offensively. Another outstanding start from Tyler Phillips highlighted it on the pitching side.
